Sync allows you to keep your Wallet information up to date across multiple Macs, iPhones and iPads.
Various methods of sync are available in Wallet. Select a topic below to learn more:
Using your Dropbox account, Wallet can keep all of your devices up to date over the internet.
To set up Dropbox sync in Wallet, head to the Wallet Preferences and click on the Sync tab. If it's not already selected, click the large pop-up button and choose Dropbox Sync. Click the Link Account button and then follow the instructions on Dropbox.
To start a sync, click the button in the Wallet toolbar. This may take a few minutes depending on the size of your database. Once succesfully completed, the animation will stop.
If you have your own WebDAV server, you can set up Wallet to sync with it.
To set up WebDAV sync in Wallet, head to the Wallet Preferences and click on the Sync tab. If it's not already selected, click the large pop-up button and choose WebDAV Sync. Enter the exact address of your server in the server location field. Enter a username and password if required, and close the window.
- When providing your server address, specify the exact path for where you want your Wallet database to be stored, and make sure that the directory already exists.
- Your server must connect over HTTPS with a valid SSL certificate to sync on the newest macOS releases.
- Do not append a file name to the server path - Wallet automatically stores the database as "Database.wallet".
- You may integrate the username field into your address by implementing {username}.
To start a sync, click the button in the Wallet toolbar. This may take a few minutes depending on the size of your database. You'll be notified of any errors that occur. Once succesfully completed, the animation will stop.
You can also manually sync your database with an iPhone or iPad using Wi-Fi sync.
To initiate a Wi-Fi sync, first make sure both your Mac and iPhone or iPad are connected to the same local network. Open both versions of Wallet and enter your password to unlock each. Then:
- On your Mac, go to the menubar and select File ▸ Sync with Device
- On your iPhone or iPad, tap Allow in the dialog that appears.
Syncing should then start immediately; simply wait for it to complete. This may take a few minutes depending on the size of your database.
